Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I was inspired to create The Wiz Kidz one day when I was watching children's television with my four year old daughter. I noticed that there were relatively few leading female characters. I then realized that when my daughter watches children's programming, she sees not only a distorted view of the world, but she sees a world that does not include her. I believe to a certain extent this is also true for children of color and disability. I decided I wanted to help change this,so I created The Wiz Kidz.
For children, I created a show that entertains and delights them with charismatic characters, music and dance and that teaches them about the world and all the wonderful things they can do and be. For parents, I created a teaching tool to help them inspire self-esteem, joy and confidence in their children, so that all of our children can succeed in this dynamic, ever-changing world we live in.
In his Inaugural Address, President Obama said, "We must pick ourselves up". I believe The Wiz Kidz does just that for our children by teaching them to believe in themselves, their dreams and their unlimited potential.
I believe every single one of us is important. And as Divine says at the end of each Wiz Kidz adventure, "All that really matters is that we love each other, accept one another, have fun and dance!"
